Gulf trips

What we target

Gulf trips take you past the beach to the nearshore reefs, wrecks, and structure where the fish stack up. We focus on species you can reach in a reasonable run from Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key, so you get a full day of fishing, not just a long boat ride.

• Red snapper – when season is open, a staple of Gulf charters. Great eating and a real fight on light gear.
• King mackerel & Spanish mackerel – fast and aggressive. Trolling or live bait.
• Mangrove snapper, lane snapper – year-round options around structure.
• Other species – cobia, amberjack, grouper (when in season), and more depending on the time of year.

How we fish

We use light to medium tackle so the fight is in your hands. We may bottom fish around structure, troll for mackerel, or drift with live bait—whatever fits the conditions and the season. Capt. John knows the local waters and will put you on the right spots.

Trip length

Full-day trips work best for the Gulf: we need time to run out, fish, and get back. Half-day Gulf runs are possible for closer-in action. See rates and contact us to plan your trip.
